Marketing AI prompts

How to sell AI prompts when anyone can copy one.

People don't pay for prompts; they pay for a result they couldn't get themselves. Post the output, show one prompt for free, and sell the full, tested set for a specific job. Postomate writes and publishes those posts for you.

Works with Gumroad, Stan, Payhip, Etsy, Lemon Squeezy, Whop or your own site.

Where prompt pack buyers are.

The best buyers have a job to do and no time to experiment. Find them where they work.

  1. 1

    LinkedIn

Professionals want AI to save them hours at work. Prompts for a specific role sell well here.

  2. 2

    X

AI-curious builders follow people who share working prompts. Show the output and they'll follow.

  3. 3

    TikTok

Before-and-after slideshows of AI output reach people who haven't figured AI out yet.

  4. 4

    Instagram

Carousels of “prompt → result” get saved for later.

  5. 5

    Reddit

Useful when you share a method openly. Prompt-selling posts get removed fast, so lead with the technique.

What to post about a prompt pack.

Prompts are easy to copy. Results, testing and focus aren't.

  1. 1

    The output first

Show what the prompt produced. The result is the product; the prompt is just how you got there.

  2. 2

    One prompt, free

Give away one complete prompt from the pack. If it works, people want the rest.

  3. 3

    Bad prompt vs good prompt

Show the generic version and yours side by side. The difference is your expertise.

  4. 4

    One job, done faster

“Cold emails for sales reps” beats “500 ChatGPT prompts”. Be specific about the job.

Most AI sales emails get ignored for the same reason: they start with “I hope this email finds you well.” The fix isn't a better model. It's a better brief. I tell the AI three things before anything else: one detail about the prospect, the problem I think they have, and a word limit of 80. Reply rates on my team went up noticeably the week we switched. If you'd like the 60 prompts we use, comment “prompts” and I'll send them over.

The rule: A lesson from your own work. The ask is “comment” or “DM me”, never “buy now”.

Thread on X

  1. Your AI cold emails sound like AI because your prompt is too vague. Here's the one I use. Steal it:

  2. “Write a cold email under 80 words to [name], [role] at [company]. Open with this detail: [something specific]. Name one problem it probably causes. End with a yes/no question. No greetings, no ‘hope you're well’.”

  3. The detail and the word limit do most of the work.

  4. I've got 59 more like it, tested on real outreach. They're on my profile.

The rule: Teaches one thing. The product gets one soft line, in the last post only.

The rule: Casual, lowercase, quick. The product is the last line: “in my bio”.

Three mistakes prompt sellers make.

  1. 1

    Selling quantity

“1,000 prompts” signals untested filler. A smaller, tested set for one job is easier to trust.

  2. 2

    Never showing output

Without seeing the result, buyers can't tell good prompts from bad ones.

  3. 3

    Hiding every prompt

Giving one away proves the rest work. Hiding all of them makes people assume they don't.

Questions.

Can you actually make money selling AI prompts?

Yes, when the prompts save a specific person real time on a specific job and you can show the results. Generic prompt lists are hard to sell because buyers can find similar ones for free.

Where can I sell AI prompts?

Gumroad, Etsy, Payhip, Lemon Squeezy and Stan Store all work for prompt packs. Most sales still come from people who saw your posts first.

If I share a prompt for free, won't people just copy it?

Some will, and that's fine. The ones who see it work are the ones who buy the full, tested set.
