Marketing Notion templates

How to market Notion templates and actually sell them.

Sell the result, not the template. Post about the problem it fixes, like missed invoices or a messy content calendar, show one view at a time, and point people to the template once they're nodding along. Postomate writes and publishes those posts for you.

Works with Gumroad, Stan, Payhip, Etsy, Lemon Squeezy, Whop or your own site.

My content system has exactly 4 columns:

Where Notion template buyers are.

Notion buyers are organised, curious and usually already online for work. These are the places they scroll.

  1. 1

    TikTok

Photo slideshows of a clean setup stop the scroll. Great for templates aimed at students, creators and personal planning.

  2. 2

    X

Productivity and builder crowds swap systems here. Threads breaking down how you run something get saved and shared.

  3. 3

    Reddit

People describe their exact mess and ask for a fix. Answer well and your profile does the selling.

  4. 4

    Instagram

Carousels walking through one view at a time get saved for later, which is when people come back and buy.

  5. 5

    LinkedIn

Worth it when your template is for work: client trackers, CRMs, hiring pipelines, team wikis.

What to post about a Notion template.

Nobody wakes up wanting a template. They want the mess gone. Post about the mess.

  1. 1

    The problem, without Notion

Talk about missed deadlines or lost ideas in plain words. People who don't know Notion yet will still recognise themselves.

  2. 2

    One view at a time

Show a single board, filter or dashboard and what it answers. A full tour overwhelms; one view makes people want the rest.

  3. 3

How you use it each week

Your Monday review, your end-of-month check. Routines sell templates better than features.

  4. 4

    Notion vs the old way

Sticky notes, five spreadsheets, a notes app. Show what changed when it all moved into one place.

I kept losing content ideas, so I made one rule: everything goes in one inbox

My ideas were in four places: notes app, screenshots, voice memos and a DM thread with myself. I'd sit down to write and remember none of them. The fix was one rule: every idea goes into one inbox, no sorting, no tags. Then on Sunday I spend 15 minutes picking five ideas and moving them to “drafting”. That's it. Capture fast, decide once a week. I post more now and stress less, because Monday never starts from a blank page. I built mine in Notion (and sell a version of it), but a single note or a paper notebook works if you keep the rule.

The rule: A real story that teaches. One disclosed line about the product, never a link.

Thread on X

  1. My content system has exactly 4 columns: Idea → Draft → Scheduled → Posted Everything else I tried was too clever to keep using.

  2. The rule that makes it work: ideas go in instantly, unsorted. Sorting happens once a week, on Sunday, in 15 minutes.

  3. I set it up in Notion with a weekly view and a posting checklist. It's on my profile if you'd like a copy.

The rule: Teaches one thing. The product gets one soft line, in the last post only.

Three mistakes Notion sellers make.

  1. 1

Selling Notion instead of the outcome

“Linked databases and rollups” means nothing to most buyers. “Never forget an invoice again” does.

  2. 2

    Only posting in Notion circles

Other Notion fans can build their own. Your best buyers are people with the problem who'd rather not build anything.

  3. 3

Showing the whole workspace at once

A screenshot of everything looks impressive and explains nothing. One view, one problem, one post.

Questions.

How do I sell Notion templates?

List the template on a store like Gumroad, Lemon Squeezy, Etsy or Notion's own marketplace, then bring buyers to it with regular posts about the problem it solves. The store handles payment and delivery; the posting brings the people.

Where's the best place to promote Notion templates?

TikTok and Instagram for personal and student templates, X and LinkedIn for work templates, and Reddit for answering specific questions. Start with the two that match who your template is for.

Can I promote my Notion template on Reddit?

Carefully. Most subreddits remove posts that are just a link. Share how you solved the problem, mention the template in one disclosed line, and let people find the link on your profile. Always read the subreddit's rules first.

How much should I charge for a Notion template?

Price it by the problem it solves, not the hours it took. A tracker that saves a freelancer one forgotten invoice is worth far more than its build time. Test a price, watch how people respond, and adjust.

Will Postomate show screenshots of my template?

Postomate writes the posts and designs carousels and slideshows from your product page. It doesn't take screenshots inside your Notion workspace, so add your own images if you want to show the actual template.

Paste your product link. We’ll handle the posting.

Your first posts are written while you set up. Approve each one, or let it run on autopilot.
