Selling on X

How to sell digital products on X (Twitter).

On X, people buy from accounts they've learned from. Post threads that teach one thing, single posts with a sharp idea, and honest updates on what you're building. Keep the product to the last post of a thread and the link on your profile. Postomate writes and publishes those posts for you.

How selling on X works.

  1. 1

    Followers buy, not passers-by

Most sales come from people who've followed you for a while. Every useful post adds to that list.

  2. 2

    Your profile does the selling

Put the product link in your bio and a pinned post. Anyone who likes a thread will check your profile next.

  3. 3

    Threads travel

A thread that teaches one thing well gets reposted and saved long after you post it.

Posts that sell on X.

Mix these and you'll never run out of things to say about your product's topic.

  1. 1

    Teaching threads

A hook, three to six steps, and a soft mention in the last post. The classic X format.

  2. 2

    Single sharp posts

One idea, stated plainly. No call to action at all; these build the following.

  3. 3

    Building in public

Sales numbers, what you're working on, what didn't work. People root for builders and buy from them.

Example X posts.

Invented products, to show the format. Your posts are written from your own product page.

Example: a Notion content calendar

Thread on X

  1. My content system has exactly 4 columns: Idea → Draft → Scheduled → Posted Everything cleverer, I stopped using.

  2. The rule: ideas go in instantly, unsorted. Sorting happens once a week, on Sunday.

  3. I set it up in Notion with a weekly view. It's on my profile if you want a copy.

The rule: Teaches one thing. The product gets one soft line, in the last post only.

Example: a coaching guide

  1. Coaches: if all you post is tips, people will learn from you and hire someone else. Post a client win once a week. It's the post that books calls.

The rule: A single post is pure value. No pitch at all; the profile does the selling.

Example: an AI prompt pack

Thread on X

  1. Your AI cold emails sound like AI because your prompt is too vague. Here's the one I use:

  2. “Write a cold email under 80 words. Open with this detail: [something specific]. Name one problem it causes. End with a yes/no question.”

  3. I've got 59 more like it, tested on real outreach. They're on my profile.

The rule: Teaches one thing. The product gets one soft line, in the last post only.

Rules for selling on X without being ignored.

  • Product in the last post only

A thread that teaches and ends with a soft mention sells. A thread that opens with a pitch doesn't get read.

  • Single posts get no pitch

Keep one-off posts purely useful. They're how people find you; the threads and profile do the selling.

  • Pin your best thread

New visitors check your pinned post first. Make it your most useful thread, ending with the product.

  • Show up most days

X moves fast. Regular posting keeps you in people's feeds long enough for them to follow.

Questions.

Can you sell digital products on X (Twitter)?

Yes. X doesn't have a store for digital products, but it's one of the best places to build a following that buys. Link your store in your bio and pinned post, and post threads that teach.

Should I put links in my posts on X?

Keep links out of most posts and put the product on your profile. When you do mention it, do it in the last post of a thread, after you've given something useful.

How often should I post on X to sell a product?

Most days. Single posts daily and a thread or two a week is a pace many sellers keep up.

Does Postomate write threads?

Yes. Postomate decides whether a topic suits a single post or a thread, and keeps any product mention to the final post of a thread.

Paste your product link. We’ll post to X for you.

Your first posts are written while you set up. Approve each one, or let it run on autopilot.
